Registration Specific FAQ
- Is as social studies course required in 9th grade? It is not required, but we do recommend that they take it so that it frees up more opportunities later in their high school career. I know only 3 credits are needed for graduation.
- Can freshmen students take AP World History? They can, just need it to be signed off by ELA or Social Studies teacher.
- How many electives are 9th graders allowed to select? It depends, if they choose to take World History, then 2 (we suggest they take HOPE); if they choose not to take World History, then 3 electives. They have 6 classes at high school, just like middle school.
CLASS TYPES
Honors: More rigorous instruction which is weighted in GPA calculations.
AP: Advanced Placement - College level instruction that can be counted as college credit if exam is passed. MORE INFORMATION (PDF).
Dual Enrollment: Student is enrolled with Locklin, PSC, or UWF, classes can be on PHS campus or off campus.
