Cinco De Mayo is a special day that celebrates Mexican culture because of the battle they won against the French. At Pace High School, students and teachers came together to celebrate the important day with fun things like food and music and dancing. The media center was full of decorations and music playing everywhere. The students would laugh, eat, and learn about the history of Cinco De Mayo. People felt proud to be a part of this celebration. Three students Normyz, Rodrigo, and Mia helped lead the event, they worked hard to cook food for many students with help from some parents and teachers. They made tamales, tacos, and many other Mexican foods as well as drinks called Jarritos. One of the students Nomaryz Ayala, 12 said “We started cooking in the morning and we were exhausted but when we saw everyone smiling, having a good time, and enjoying the food it made everything worth it. Another student, Mia Puentes Valdes, 11, felt proud of what she did. Nomaryz said with a happy smile “People said the food tasted like something they would definitely eat again so that made it so much better.” Rodrigo Gonzaalo, 10 helped set out food and made sure everything stayed clean and organized. “I didn't cook much, but I did help in other ways like chopping onions. It felt good to be a part of their team.” Cinco de mayo at pace high school was a big success, thanks to the hard work of students like Nomaryz, Mia, and Rodrigo. The event reminded everyone how important it is to honor history, share  culture, and bring people together.
