Principal's Message

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Pace High School website. This website has been prepared in the hope that it will become for parents, students, and visitors a valuable source of school news and timely information. This website has been developed to enable everyone to become familiar with our school, its policies, and other procedures and to provide you with school news, schedules, and events. Our school has a very long tradition, and our staff takes great pride in providing a safe and secure learning environment, We also offer a wide array of exciting and challenging academic programs.
Our extensive menu of extracurricular activities, both academic and recreational, is unsurpassed. Our entire staff is committed to a school environment that allows our students to flourish and to grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Our website will be updated regularly to provide visitors with notices, bulletins and other news on a variety of subjects.
Again, I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit our school website and the support you give to Pace High School. We are proud of our school and the programs we offer. The administration, faculty, and staff are here to guide you every step of the way in order to make your Pace High School experience very positive and successful.

Amie Filbert -

Mrs. Filbert started her career in 2010 as a physical education teacher at Hobbs Middle School, as well as coaching softball and volleyball at Pace High School. In 2013, she transferred to Sims Middle School and continued to coach at Pace High School. During her 7 years of teaching, Mrs. Filbert was nominated Rookie of the Year and Teacher of the Year by her colleagues. 

In 2017, Mrs. Filbert became the Dean of Students at Sims Middle School.  During this time, she earned a masters degree in Educational Leadership from the University of West Florida. In 2020, Mrs. Filbert worked as an administrative intern for Santa Rosa Blended Academy and Pace High School.  In June of 2021, she was promoted to assistant principal at Pace High School, her current role. 

Mrs. Filbert works diligently to alleviate graduation barriers for students; these barriers include attendance, behavior, and academic concerns. Mrs. Filbert's favorite part of her job is helping students realize their full potential and helping students plan and set goals for a successful future. 

Mrs. Filbert is married to her husband, Brad, who is also an educator for the Santa Rosa County School District. Together, they have three children: Nate (14), Jon (10), and Claire (3). Outside of work, Mrs. Filbert enjoys cooking, exercising, attending her childrens' extra-curricular activities, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Filbert is proud to lead and be part of the Pace High School family,  a family she appreciates and cares about. 

Dustin Gray -

Mr. Gray has been working at Pace High School for 19 of the 22.5 years he has been in education. His educational work spans Tate High School (teacher), Woodham High School (teacher), Pace High School (teacher), Central School (dean/assistant principal), and back to Pace High School (assistant principal). He has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.

He is responsible for the Curriculum and Instruction of Pace High School. He oversees the Guidance/Testing Department that is an integral part of the success of the school through teachers teaching the approved curriculum/offering of rigorous classes for students to enroll, while making sure students are taking/passing the correct curriculum for graduation and beyond.

Brian Howell -

Brian Howell began at Pace High in March 2023 and oversees buildings/facilities, maintenance, campus grounds, safety, and testing. This is his 28th year in education and he has served in many roles including a teacher/coach in SC, teacher/coach at Tate High School (10 yrs), Dean of Students/Head Baseball coach at Milton High School (4 yrs), and Navarre High School as Dean of Students (3 yrs) and Assistant Principal overseeing facilities/grounds/maintenance/athletics (10 yrs). While the AP at Navarre, he earned High School AP of the Year in 2015-16, being selected by his peers. AP Howell has a passion for Athletics as well, having coached in SC, and locally at Tate, Milton, and Navarre in various positions, including head baseball coach, asst. football and baseball coach, and head golf coach. He is excited and passionate about the ideas and experience he brings to enhance our school infrastructure and grounds and will continue to invest in the students and staff of Pace High School.

AP Howell and his wife, Wendy, love to travel, especially cruising, light exercising together, and spending time with their 2 adult children. They have a 27-year-old son and a graduate of FSU, and a 19-year-old daughter entering her junior year at UWF.
